How Instagram's New Changes Impact Your Business

Users spoke, they listened. Instagram is changing its algorithm to become more timely.

 

Instagram says that its feeds will “feel more fresh.” They won't be messing around with your feed quite as much. This means that your posts will be viewed in real time, as opposed to 5 days later.

 

They're even testing a new feature called "New Posts", so that users can refresh their feeds when they want to, rather than automatically being transported to the top in the middle of browsing.

 

“We did this via a number of changes, including an adjustment so that very old content does not get bumped up higher in feed,” said Gabe Madway, Instagram’s spokesman.

 

With parent company, Facebook Inc., facing major backlash, Instagram is in a race to prevail among the clutter of social media channels. 

 

“Instagram’s feed ranking is powered by machine learning, which is constantly adapting and improving based on new data,” Mr. Madway said. “But this is a nice change that people should notice.”

 

With over 800 million users, Instagram has become a powerhouse when it comes to business lead generation. This will make it more effective for businesses to reach their followers with timely content. 

 

We for one, welcome this small step back towards the chronological feed.
